Five Consecutive Milestones Were Passed Within Four Days in Two Drydocks

It was an extraordinary week for the third one in September. During this week, the production tasks in both No.1 and No.2 drydocks boomed. From Sep 14 to 17, SWS passed five magnificent milestones within four consecutive days including three keel-lays, one launching and one floating.

At 11:00 AM on Sep 14, with the cheerful sound of firecrackers, the keel-laying ceremonies for H1332 and H1335 were unveiled in No.1 drydock. It is reported that, H1332 is the 14th 180,000 DWT Bulk Carrier built for Frontline, and H1335 is the same type of vessel for Gleamray. Besides of site mangers from both shipping companies, respective class surveyors, together with relevant leaders from Production Operation Department, Quality Assurance and Control Department and Sales and Marketing Departments, SWS Chief Production Officer, Mr. Wu Zongjun attended the ceremonies too.

On the other hand, H1385 completed her launching out of No.2 drydock and followed by successful floating of H1355 in the same morning of Sep 16. H1385 is the second 300,000 DWT VLCC built for Navig8 and H1355 is the third sister vessel. It is report that every relevant department worked overtime in order to ensure the successful launching of H1385 and it only cost SWS 64 days from the floating on July 13 to launching on September 16, which not only guaranteed the good condition for launching, but also passed the launching milestone. During this period, the Erection Department of SWS reached the whole hull-connection in 30 days and finished side shell plates tightness tests in 44 days; the Blasting and Painting Department finished the painting work of bottom ballast tanks in 18 days; the Machinery Installation and Commissioning Department submitted 33 engine room systems to inspection and the Hull-outfitting and Installation Department successfully summited the ballast pipe manifold to tightness test in dry dock.

Good news never comes alone. H1356, the fourth 300,000 DWT VLCC built for Navig8, cheered for her launching ceremony in No.2 drydock at 11:00 AM, Sep 17.

September was usually regarded as the golden season for shipbuilding industry, during this season, SWS successfully passed five production milestones within 4 consecutive days from Sep 14th to 17th, which implied that all departments in SWS are going all efforts on their way to finishing the annual delivery task assigned by CSSC.
