On Dec. 18th, the grand section 80C has been lifted and assembled, which marks the through-hull connection of China's largest 18000 TEU container ship H6002 was completed. During the production, all departments collaborated together, overcame difficulties, completed the milestone of hull connection under the organization of Production Management Department, and the collaboration of Erection department. The structure of the hull is quite different from other regular merchant vessels, because it has many extra thick plates, and its deck area is small, and its safety, quality, accuracy management are difficult. All those bring the tough challenges to the erection of it. In order to successfully complete the erection of China's largest 18000 TEU container ship, Erection Dept. paid close attention on it and established a special project team to ensure its whole operation and promote the steady and effective production. Facing challenges, Erection Dept. dared to face the difficulties, and planned carefully, thought pro-actively, and solved problems beforehand. For helping employees to better understand and familiarize hull's structure, Erection Dept specially made videos of manufacturing front stern part, midship part and back stern part. The videos demonstrate the whole lifting process which made the team better know the structure. For welding the extra thick plates, Erection department also arranged a special welding training of theory and practice and established a special welding team to ensure the welding quality of plates. Because the container ship requires high accuracy, Erection Dept adopted self-developed tool to guarantee perpendicularity and space of vessel. Under the joint efforts of all employees, H6002 spent 106 days from keel laying to hull connection and created a record of 99 lifts for the construction of merchant product. The successfully completion of through-hull connection of 18000 TEU container ship laid firm foundation for its launching in 2015.
