On May 27, China’s second domestically built large cruise ship, Adora Flora City, successfully completed its sea trials and returned to Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. (SWS), a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC).

Escorted by several tugboats, the cruise ship safely berthed at SWS’s No. 5 Wharf after completing an intensive 12-day sea trial program in the East China Sea.

During the sea trials, all 149 scheduled test items were successfully completed and verified, covering key systems and operational performance across navigation, propulsion, maneuverability, safety, environmental protection, hotel functions and passenger comfort. The successful completion of the program marks another major milestone in the construction of Adora Flora City and lays a solid foundation for her final delivery.

Following the successful sea trials, the cruise ship has now entered the final stage of construction, with teams focusing on area completion, system commissioning and delivery preparations. The project remains firmly on track toward its contractual delivery target of November 6, 2026.

Looking ahead, SWS will continue to leverage its leading role in China’s cruise ship industrial chain under the guidance of CSSC. The company remains committed to strengthening technological innovation, enhancing indigenous cruise ship design and construction capabilities, advancing the localization of the cruise ship supply chain, and accelerating the development of a systematic, series-based and large-scale cruise shipbuilding ecosystem.

The successful return of Adora Flora City from sea trials marks the beginning of the final sprint toward delivery and represents another significant step forward in the continued growth of China’s cruise ship industry.
