WEN JING KOU marks not only the culmination of SWS's successful start in the first quarter of 2025 but also represents the company's first-ever PCTC product and the largest car-carrying capacity PCTC under construction in the Shanghai area to date. This type of vessel was independently developed and designed by the Marine Research and Design Institute under China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC). It has an overall length of 199.9 meters, a breadth of 38 meters, a depth of 14.8 meters, a design draft of 9.2 meters, and a design speed of 19 knots. It is classed by both DNV and China Classification Society (CCS).

The vessel features 14 vehicle decks, with each deck's clear height, ramp location, ramp width, support position, support spacing, stern door arrangement, as well as ventilation, fire protection, lashing, and monitoring equipment all undergoing thorough optimization and validation. This design enables the ship to efficiently load and unload various types of vehicles, including sedans, trucks, buses, tractors, trailers, as well as oversized and overweight roll-on/roll-off cargo. It is also capable of carrying new energy vehicles such as electric vehicles, hydrogen fuel cell vehicles, and natural gas vehicles, and can accommodate a variety of packaged dangerous goods and containers.

Facing the new PCTC ship type, Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding firmly implemented the management philosophy of "precision, refinement, breakthrough, and excellence." The first ship targeted the industry-leading goal of a "double 100-day" construction cycle for the dock and pier. By advancing processes to reconstruct the intelligent manufacturing system, adopting lean production to set quality benchmarks, and applying project-based and systematic thinking to plan the construction strategy, the company established a comprehensive risk control system covering precision, quality, safety, and scheduling. This approach has achieved significant results with minimal effort.
