On December 20, Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. (SWS)  and China Shipbuilding Trading Co., Ltd. (CSTC), as subsidiaries of China State Shipbuilding Corporation Limited (CSSC) officially signed a contract with SBM OFFSHORE for the construction of the sixth generic Fast4Ward® Multi Purpose Floater (MPF6).

MPF6 adopted SBM OFFSHORE’s proprietary generic hull design.  This is a standard hull design for Floating Production Storage and Offloading vessels (FPSO) with a storage capacity up to 2.3 million barrels of crude oil. This generic hull is designed for a wide range of sea conditions.

With an increased design capacity from 180 to 240 people on board, the MPF6 offers a larger accommodation area compared to previous models. Additionally, the design adapts SBM Offshore’s sustainability Policy which covers a wide range of issues including environmental, safety as well as business ethics related subjects.
