On Aug. 20, the Block Construction Clarification of VLGC was held in SWS. It is the first time for SWS to undertake the construction of VLGC, which marks that SWS has made a big step towards the product diversification. In the meeting, the R & D Institute and the relevant departments of SCH have made instruction, exchanges and clarification on the technology and difficulty, project plan and division of work, hull construction plan, accuracy control plan and key point, quality inspection, the management and the experience in processing. The Assembly Dept. (SWS) and SLO respectively delivered the speech on the block construction of VLGC. It is reported the VLGC undertaken by SWS is the full cooling gas carrier with circumnavigation, single decked (the deck sunk at aft.) , bulbous bow, single rudder and single propeller, low-speed diesel engine. Low temperature steel welding is the difficult point and the technical essential. Currently, SWS has organized the relevant staffs to participate in the training of low temperature steel welding.
