Recently, SWS was awarded "The Advanced Units in Vocational Skill Competition of Central Enterprises" by the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council. It is the achievement for SWS to strengthen the upgrading of vocational skill and pay special attention to Skill Competition in recent years.

For years, under the guidance of the concept of "Training Driven by Competition", SWS has organized a number of Vocational Skill Competitions, which have been regular, normalized and institutionalized. Every year, the company and all departments actively organize many kinds of skill competitions, which effectively improved the vocational skills of workers. At the same time, the outstanding skilled workers are recommended by Human Resources Dept. to participate in the competitions of CSSC and Shanghai, and gain the outstanding achievements. In 2009, in the Third Vocational Skill Competition of CSSC, an employee of SWS won the first prize. In 2012, in the Fourth Vocational Skill Competition of CSSC, another employee of SWS won the first prize. In 2012, in the Vocational Skill Competition organized by Shanghai Shipbuilding Corporation, an employee of SWS won the first prize.

Through all kinds of vocational skill competitions, not only the vocational skill of workers was improved, but also a lot of outstanding skilled workers came to the fore. Many workers won the titles of "National Skilled Worker" and "Skilled Worker in Shanghai" more than once. At present, in SWS, there are 4 "National Skilled Workers", 10 "CSSC Skilled Workers", 4 "Shanghai Skilled Workers", 12 "Shanghai Shipbuilding Corporation Skilled Workers", and 69 "SWS Skilled Workers". SWS reserves a large number of skilled talents.
