The China-built world's first Aframax product tanker equipped with wind-assisted propulsion was officially named BRANDSHATCH on Wednesday, marking another breakthrough in the country's green shipbuilding technology.
The 250-m-long, 44-m-wide ship boasting three over 40m-tall intelligent-controlled sails can carry more than 800,000 barrels of crude oil per trip, save 14.5 tonnes of fuel usage per day, and cut carbon emissions by about 5,000 tonnes per year. The ship will run on European routes upon delivery on June 16.
