On June 16th, the first leaders’ conference of CSSC cruise industry work advancing group was held at SWS. The leaders firstly reviewed the journey of promoting cruise industry and major China-made cruise projects, and then brought up new thoughts, paths and requirements for the next phase. Deputy Secretary of CSSC Party Leadership Group, also President of CSSC, Mr. Wu Qiang, attended and addressed the conference. The Party member of CSSC Party Group, also Vice President of CSSC , Mr. Sun Wei, hosted the conference. The executive Vice Chairman of China Cruise & Yacht Industry Association (CCYIA) Mr. Zhang Zhaoben attended the conference. Chairman of SWS Mr. Wang Qi, together with other leaders, attended the conference as well.

Wu Qiang pointed out that promoting the development of China cruise industry and the implementation of large cruise ship projects is one significant decision CSSC made to meet the national strategic demands of ‘the Belt and Road Initiative’ and “Made in China 2025” and achieve own transformation and development. This would have a far-reaching meaning for CSSC to advance the structural reform on the supply side and realize development driven by innovation. Supported by related national ministries and parties, under the high attention and strong leadership of CSSC Party Leadership Group, CSSC gained many periodic achievements in regard to cruise industry development and advancement of China-made large cruise ship projects after 6 years of hard work. It has formed a ‘big cruise industry platform’ consisting of “Two Shipyards and Two Institutes” including SWS, GSI, MARIC and SDARI, established an industry development pattern with large-scale and middle/small-scale cruise ships design and construction, investment and operation, and supplementary industry chains construction respectively centered on Shanghai and Guangzhou. At the same time, CSSC have already carried out a series of works including technology introduction, advanced research and problems tackling and staff training which established a solid foundation for major cruise projects to step into the implementation phase.

Wu Qiang emphasized that in the process of developing cruise industry, only with good Party building work could enterprises have cohesion, could development last long, could mission be accomplished. It’s a new ‘long march’ to promote China cruise industry and projects. To make it happen, ‘4 kinds of awareness’ must be strengthened continuously, the passion for work and the willing to devote of related units must be inspired continuously during the advancement of cruise industry development and China-made large cruise ship construction. The talent team construction should be expedited and a cruise industry development team with faith and fighting spirit which could take responsibilities, be loyal to the Party and bare burdens for the country is in urgent demand, and keep bringing this great mission to a newer level.

Vice Chairman Zhang Zhaoben said that there were many hardships met when CSSC promoted the development of cruise industry and China-made large cruise ship projects, and it’s truly praiseworthy to get so many progresses. In 6 years, CSSC had planned and carried forward the development of China cruise industry from the view of developing a whole industrial chain, and established a fine and solid foundation for Chinese shipbuilding industry to pick this ‘pearl on the crown’. He also expected CSSC to continue to make scientific decisions, strengthen research, and focus on the culture and management conflict existed in cruise projects, thus reinforce the ability of management and innovation from the point of building this whole industrial chain. He expressed that China Cruise & Yacht Industry Association would do anything it can to support CSSC as well as related parties to promote the development of China cruise industry, also actively provide required services and related research work.

At the conference, Xu Miao, Assistant President of CSSC also director of Technology Department, did a report in regard to relevant research. Chang Yu, deputy director of CSSC Development & Planning Department, gave a speech of present working condition and plans for  promoting cruise industry on behalf of the group. Other members of the group also made their statement. It’s clear that relevant parties would pay high attention and do all the preparatory work well, enhance cross learning and communication, strengthen integral coordination, push the design and construction, investment and operation, and supplementary industrial chain construction of large cruise ship projects orderly under the strong leadership of CSSC Party Leadership Group and efficient cooperation based on ‘cruise industry platform’.

Attendants at the conference were members from CSSC cruise industry work advancing group and specialized team, SWS cruise project advancing group and specialized team, and heads of relevant enterprises from CSSC.
