On Aug.18th, the VESSEL “GENER8 CHIOTIS” built by SWS for GENER8 CHIOTIS LLC was successfully delivered after the signing of delivery documents.
In the morning of Aug 19th, SWS observed the grand inauguration of the “Science and Technology (Scien-Tech) Innovation Center“, and the signing ceremony of strategic cooperation agreement between Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipubilding & Offshore Engineering Co., Ltd (SWS Engineering) and Alfa-Laval. President of SWS Mr. Sheng Jigang, SWS Chief Technical Officer (CTO) Mr. Tao Ying, SWS Chief Technologist Mr. Liu Jianfeng, together with President of Alfa-Laval China Division Mr. Jan Debruyn, General Manager of Alfa-Laval Global Marine Products Mr. Niclas Dahl, Vice President of Alfa-Laval Marine Products China Division Mrs. Ye Wen and other leadership attended the ceremony.
The vessel “GENER8 CHIOTIS”, (hull number H1357), the fifth 300K DWT VLCC SWS built for the US Ship Owner”GENER8”was successfully named and delivered. The dimension for this type of vessel is 330meters in length, and 60meters in breath, and 30 meters indepth. In order to ensure the successful sea trial and delivery, all relevant SWS staff are united together, and conquered several difficulties like a lots of high temperature days in June and July, limitation of effective working time at noon time, and manpower shortage etc. They communicated with the Owner and Class Surveyors positively, gained the great support from the site team of Owner, ABS and CCS.Some of the owners even contributed their lunch break to consecutive inspections on board, and finally guaranteed the successful sea trial on July 27th,.
It said that the sea trial period of this vessel coinciding with SWS’s high temperature holidays. In order to ensure the smooth delivery, all SWS sea trial staff sacrificed their own interests for the sake of the project and gave up their precious vacation without hesitation. During the sea trial, the leading team onboard arranged the sea trial tests properly, and assigned the manpower effectively. With the instruction of the Production Operation Dept., the sea trial staff scheduled the working time reasonably, prepared the inspection items carefully, and prepared well for the proceeding of the sea trial. The Owners and Class Surveyors also conquered all the disadvantages brought by the hot weather, cooperated with the shipyard for the inspection items positively. Finally, with the joint effort and positive cooperation of the three parties, the “H1357” successfully returned after sea trial as per the plan on Aug 4th.
On the delivery day, Mr. Alfred Oddvar Olsen, the owner’s site manager , Mrs. Shi Xuehan, the commercial manager from CSTC and Mr. Li Hui, the assistant director from Sales & Marketing Dept. of SWS duly signed the delivery documents on behalf of tripartite parties. Mr. Wu Yongjun, the CPO of SWS, Mr. Zhu Jian, the deputy director of Production and Offshore Dept, CCS Shanghai Branch, and other representatives from relevant parties all attended the ceremony, and congratulated to each other for the successful delivery.
The successful delivery of “GENER8 CHIOTIS” consolidated the cooperation relationship with SWS and GENER8, and also set a good foundation for the building and delivery of the following vessel.
