In the early morning of May 30, the docking scheme for the first 4,200 DWT RFO (H1258) was started to implement in SLO. The docking scheme of semi-hull shifting and lifting is the optimal solution for SLO without ro/ro launching equipment. The fore part semi-hull and aft part semi-hull of the 4,200 DWT RFO can be respectively considered as two super-giant blocks weighting about 1,000 tons of each, which were slowly transferred from the 700-meter-long approach bridge to the quay. Then two super-giant blocks were lifted to the floating dock by the 1,200 tons frame crane. All workers operated gingerly with fearing of hurting the first baby of SLO. In the morning of May 31, both fore part and aft part were successfully laid in the dock. The docking of first built 4,200 DWT RFO (H1258) is a major breakthrough in the process of constructing the whole vessel in SLO. As there are big waves and adverse tidal conditions in the water of Lingang, the whole docking process is very difficult. It is reported that it was the first time in Lingang even in Shanghai to complete docking by adopting the measure of semi-hull shifting and lifting.
