CSSC Offshore Engineering Conference was held at SWS on March 15, 2013. Mr. Wu Di, Assistant President of CSSC hosted the conference, and Mr. Hu Wenming, Chairman of CSSC, Mr. Wu Qiang, Vice President of CSSC and Mr. Zhou Jianneng, Asssitant President of CSSC delivered a speech respectively. Mr. Nan Daqing, Vice President of CSSC and more than 70 top managements from the related Departments, backbone enterprises and research institutes of CSSC attended the conference.
Mr. Chen Gang, Deputy Chief Technical Officer of SWS focused his presentation on the construction progress of the offshore products and the condition of new orders. For the first time the share of the offshore products in the business of SWS have been beyond 20%, and the structural adjustments have achieved initial results. He also analyzed both the advantages and improvements to be made by the yard through the comparison with the other shipyards.
Mr. Wang Qi, President of SWS, in his speech pointed out that it is absolutely wise to take Offshore Engineering as a key development object among the six industry sectors of CSSC. To well develop the Offshore Engineering sector, it’s necessary to fasten the development of the service industry for offshore construction. We should learn from the advanced experiences of Singapore’s enterprises to set up solid subcontract system, knowledge service system and storage logistics system and, under the guidance of CSSC, to vigorously develop the offshore engineering service business including the installation and commissioning of special equipment, quality control, R&D design and special welding.
Mr. Hu Wenming, Chairman of CSSC, in his speech said that CSSC attaches great importance to the development of Offshore Industry, and that it’s key for the industrial structure adjustment and economic development mode transformation of CSSC to accelerate the development of offshore business and the exploitation of ocean resources. Mr. Hu emphasized that through reviewing the development of the domestic offshore business, CSSC owns both such advantages as high quality products and strong detailed design capability and the disadvantages such as late market entrance, slow reaction, less quantity of products and weak basic design capability, and that we should keep constant innovation and progress to ensure the share of CSSC in the national high and new technology industries.
During the conference, accompanied by SWS top management, the attendees had an on-site visit of JU-2000E jack-up rig.
