On Jan. 6, with the celebration atmosphere of 2013 New Year, SWS ushers the first production milestone of this year -- the launching of H1247 and H1254. H1247 is the second 20.6k DWT bulk carrier built for U-MING MARINE TRANSPORT CORPORATION, and H1254 is the first 20.6k DWT bulk carrier built for MARINE CONSULT INTERNATIONAL LTD.

The smooth launching of both H1247 and H1254 marks that the first time of construction of two 20.6k DWT bulk carriers in parallel in No. 1dry-dock achieved success. Two 20.6k DWT bulk carriers constructing in parallel shortened the distance between the ship and the dock wall to 1.6 meters, and the distance between two ships to 2.8 m, which brought unprecedented challenges to the actual production. Before the keel laying of these two vessels, various production departments had been ready in advance. They actively revitalized grand assembly places, organized labor resources and planned the new technology. In a variety of adverse conditions, the Erection Dept. spent only one month in completing the assembling of 14 hatch coamings of H1247 and H1254, which laid a good foundation for the coming launching -- the structure integrity of H1247 while launching had achieved the advanced level in the near future. In addition, in response to the cross-impact while painting caused by the short distance between two ships, the Blasting and Coating Dept. had planned the new technology in advance and purchased the isolating curtains for paint, to ensure the successful completion of outer plate coating.
