Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. (SWS), under China State Shipbuilding Corporation Limited (CSSC), has marked the successful conclusion of its "14th Five-Year Plan" period with a historic production achievement.

On December 16, the 9,000-ceu Pure Car and Truck Carrier (PCTC) H1608 and the 7,000 TEU container ship H1353 were simultaneously launched from SWS’s dry dock No. 1. This milestone followed the eighth batch undocking from dry dock No. 2 just two days prior on December 14. Together, these operations signify that both of the shipyard’s major docks have each completed eight batch undocking cycles within the year, resulting in the undocking of a total of 24 vessels in 2025.

This accomplishment highlights the maturity and efficiency of SWS’s multi-vessel construction model within a single dock. It also marks the full realization and strategic elevation of the company’s core development principle: "Cruise Ship Leadership, Supported by Commercial and Offshore Segments" (often summarized as "One Core, Two Wings").

The achievement comes on the heels of SWS having already exceeded its annual delivery target ahead of schedule. It solidifies the shipyard's transition into a new phase of development as it embarks on the "15th Five-Year Plan" period from a position of industry leadership.

A Transformative "14th Five-Year Plan" Period
Facing the industry-wide shift from "scale expansion" to "quality leap," SWS transformed the complex challenge of concurrently constructing its three main product lines – large cruise ships, commercial vessels, and offshore engineering equipment – into a foundation for pragmatic management and synergistic value creation.
This period yielded substantial results across key performance indicators:
Record Deliveries: 113 vessels and offshore units across 15 different designs, including the delivery of China's first domestically built large cruise ship, Adora Magic City.
Strategic & Product Upgrading: Significant enhancement of the product portfolio and notable improvement in the shipyard's "repair-to-newbuilding ratio."
Financial Growth: Major improvements in operating performance and capital strength, with economic scale and quality surpassing levels achieved during the "13th Five-Year Plan."
Comprehensive Advancement: Upgrades in digital transformation, technological innovation, market expansion, and corporate governance.
By concluding its "14th Five-Year Plan" with this dual-dock milestone and a series of notable achievements, SWS has solidified its role as a driving force in China's shipbuilding industry and is poised for continued growth in the new strategic period ahead.
