So far, SWS has delivered 12 ships (rigs) / 1.752 million dwt in the first half of the year, completing 75% and 64% of the annual delivery plan respectively, undertaking 26 new ship orders / 3.517 million dwt, exceeding the original annual operation task, realizing the double goals of "half task completion in half year" in advance, playing a strong note of completing the annual operation and production task, presented a congratulatory gift for the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China, and highlighted the unique responsibilities and responsibilities of large central enterprises in the field of economic construction under the overall leadership of the party.

Since the beginning of 2021, facing the comprehensive challenges brought to SWS's production resources by the full development of cruise ships, merchant vessels and offshore products, and facing the cost pressures such as the sharp rise in the price of steel plate and the appreciation of exchange rate, under the strong leadership of CSSC, SWS has relied on the annual business policy of "consolidating the dominant position of large cruise ships and improving the profitability of merchant vessels and offshore products”, comprehensively focused on the management theme of "coordination and innovation", cultivated the advantages of Party building in SOEs, formed pioneer teams around key, important and difficult projects, carried out party member demonstration areas and party member pioneer posts competitions, gathered the great strength of cadres and workers to overcome difficulties, continued to deepen the reform of SOEs, reduced and streamlined a number of non-administrative organizations, built an efficient organization system, and promoted resource synergy in various fields of enterprise technology, management and production; According to the product mix, SWS established and improved the dynamic planning and balance mechanism of internal and external site resources of the enterprise, realized the maximum utilization of stock resources, ensured the construction demand of large cruise ships that is the No. 1 project of CSSC, and balanced the production and operation of merchant vessels and offshore products; SWS also carried out cost analysis of the whole business process, firmly grasped the focal points affecting the cost, formulated more than 170 cost reduction measures, and effectively promoted the construction of cost engineering.
In the field of digitalization, networking and intelligence construction, SWS formally started the construction of knowledge engineering (Phase I) project to promote the deep integration of new generation of information technology and advanced manufacturing technology, and continuously improved the professional modules and interfaces of SWS-TIME system. The function of SWS-TIME as an integrated information center is more prominent. It also helped consolidate SWS's key position in traditional products and high value-added products, and comprehensively built the new advantages of SWS in the strategic transformation of "leading by the cruise ship, balancing development of merchant vessels and offshore products".
Market development yields up, and brand influence continues to improve
The R&D goes ahead of market needs. Innovative R&D design is the core and treasure to maintain brand competitiveness in the market forever. With the sharp insights honed in the fierce market competition for a long time, SWS prepared its layout around the goal of improving the quality of high-tech ships by improving the mainstream ships. On the one hand, it carried out upgrading and optimization of key ship types, on the other hand, it developed new ship types to lay a foundation for breaking through the high-end, completed optimization and upgrading of several key ship types and configuration of dual fuel and other technologies, and focused on accelerating breakthroughs in a number of key core technologies including LNG development and green fuel application.
The market only leaves opportunities to the prepared. Thanks to advanced planning and investment, SWS has attained substantial gains in the new shipbuilding market. In February, SWS won the fourth series construction order of the world's proprietary Fast4Ward® “Generic" FPSO. In March, SWS signed 4 consecutive contracts for the construction of 210,000 dwt Newcastle bulk carriers and two 190,000 dwt dual-fuel bulk carriers, firmly defending the position of "King of Capesize bulk carriers"; In this month, SWS signed cooperation agreements with several international giants such as Qatar Oil Company and ABS to jointly develop and design A-box® Medium-sized liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers to effectively supplement and improve the current international LNG transportation technology and further improve the safety and economy of global LNG transportation
In April, SWS concluded contracts for several different ship types, including two 114,000 dwt Afra-type refined oil tankers and four 7,000TEU container ships. New orders for eight 7,000TEU container ships were placed in May again, marking a strong return of SWS to the container ship construction market. In June, SWS received orders of four 190,000 dwt dual-fuel bulk carriers again, continuing to lead the new way for the design and construction of global Capesize bulk carriers. Since this year, SWS’s orderbook has included many brand ship types, and the “SWS Capesize Bulk Carrier” has successfully passed the review of individual champion products in the manufacturing industry, fully verified the great achievements SWS made under the strong brand influence, and gathered new momentum to continuously promote the development pattern of "leading by the cruise ship, balancing development of merchant vessels and offshore products".
No.1 Project is advanced and project management is progressing smoothly.
As an important carrier of people's yearning for a better life, the design and construction of CSSC's No.1 Project, the first homemade large cruise ship, draws everyone's attention. Facing this huge systematic project, SWS proactively explored the party building mode of the cruise project. With the party flag and party constitution, the cross-region, cross-industry and cross-organization Party member employees from all over the world are orgainzed together to overcome difficulties, which strongly guaranteed the smooth progress of the cruise project.
By the end of June, over half of the scheduled milestone time of the first cruise project has passed, and the total project progress is nearly 40%. Among them, the balance of ship production design model and structural production design drawings are all completed, and the design work is transferred to the stage of on-site technical support. The block fabrication task is completed with the erection rate of the whole ship over 60%. More than 50,000 pcs of prefabricated pipes are installed, 20,000 square meters of insulations are laid, and 200 kilometers of cables are laid. Complementary measures for cruise construction have been gradually put in place. Temporary air ventilation and lighting systems have been put into use one after another. Temporary fire lines and water ingress alarm systems have also been laid out and the construction environment for the cruise ship has been greatly improved. It strengthened the safety guarantee for project operation.
By innovatively introducing the land BIM (Building Information Modeling) technology, the interior engineering is steadily moving into the construction stage of the real ship, and the construction of 38 public areas, 4 standardized cabins and catering areas for the built-in BIM model has been completed, which lays a solid foundation for the management mode of the interior engineering project based on digital twin. At the same time, SWS has cooperated with relevant universities participating in the scientific research of the project to develop the management platform of the cruise EPC project, which realizes the integration and interaction of model, plan and cost data, and provides strong support for the efficient management of the cruise project. At present, the No.2 ship of the cruise project is also advanced in a smooth manner. Detailed design has been officially started. Production design and subsequent construction plan are under accelerated preparation.
Merchant vessels and offshore products are delivered in succession with breakthroughs in key projects.
In the first half of the year, facing the disadvantageous situation of tense resources of production elements and more prototype products, SWS coordinated all kinds of production resources, accelerated the fine management of production, and carried out the cost control thoroughly and meticulously, optimized operation process standards, improved planning system, and thoroughly implemented the requirements of Modeling 2.0. A total of 5 Newcastle bulk carriers, two 180,000 dwt Capesize bulk carriers, two 114,000 dwt Afra refined oil tankers, one 114,000 dwt Afra crude oil tanker and 2 JU2000E jack up drilling rigs have been delivered as scheduled in high standards, which strongly supports the successful realization of the goal of "half task completion in half year".
In terms of new product construction, the world's first 209,000 dwt dual-fuel bulk carrier has formally entered the dock erection stage. As one of the verification vessels to implement the complete cancellation of grinding work in engine room, the overall section integrity of the project has been steadily improved through advancing forward a large number of work procedures and design work, equipment installation ahead of docking, and OTS simulated erection. The section integrity of the engine room bottom is higher than 90%, and the construction efficiency is significantly improved, which will become another typical benchmark for SWS to build ships with high integrity and efficiency in the industry.
In terms of batch construction capability improvement, SWS innovatively applied new techniques and methods such as installation of helicopter platform at the mega block stage, multi-island shipbuilding and large section displacement for the first time in the construction of No. 3 FPSO. The construction efficiency and integrity of the whole ship were improved by 10% compared with the previous ship, and the record of the shortest period of main hull connection for the FPSO project was renewed again.
In terms of non-ship industry, SWS has realized the order-oriented production in the non-ship field through cooperation with Shanghai Construction Co., Ltd, CCCC Third Harbor Engineering Co., Ltd and related brother units. It has made beneficial exploration for SWS to enrich and improve the strategic business section. SWS Offshore and other invested subsidiaries have made steady progress in operation, and SWS’s diversified high-quality development advantages are highlighted.
