On July 15, SWS respectively signed a series of new building contracts with two Taiwan shipowners, which is a good news of the cross-strait cooperation and exchange. In Taiwan, SWS signed four 186k-dwt new-generation Capesize Bulk Carriers with U-Ming Shipping Co. which is a subsidiary of Taiwan Far Eastern Group, and signed one 180K-dwt 6th-generation Capesize Bulk Carrier with Chinese Maritime Transportation Ltd.(CMT). The Chairman of CSSC, Mr. Hu Wenming attended the signing ceremony. The signing of these contracts marks that the new 6th-generation Bulk Carrier has been widely accepted in the global market.
Reviewing the process of the cooperation between Taiwan shipowners and SWS, which started in a decade ago, when CMT signed the new building contract for two Capesize Bulk Carriers --"CHINA PEACE" and " CHINA PROGRESS" with SWS, it was the first time for Taiwan Shipowner to offer the shipbuilding orders to the shipyard in China Mainland, that started the new period of good cooperation between the shipbuilding circle of China Mainland and the shipping circle of Taiwan.
Currently, the Bulk Carrier fleet which was built by SWS, has taken over 11% of the whole Bulk Carrier fleets in the world. Comparing with the former ones, the fuel consumption of the 6th-generation self-innovation Capesize Bulk Carrier decreases 20%, it is a significant for its competition. This transaction will reinforce our dominant position in the design, R&D and construction of Capesize Bulk Carrier. Additionally, it is also strategically important for SWS's restructuring and products upgrading.
