On Oct. 30, the Naming Ceremony of H1246—the first 206K DWT Newcastlemax Bulk Carrier built for U-ming was held at No.1 Quay of SWS, which is not only the demonstration of our scientific research strength, but also the manifestation of the cross-strait friendly co-operation relations.

In Naming Ceremony, Mr. Huang Yongxi-- Chairman of SWS, Mr. Hu Jingen-- Asst. President of CSSC, Mr. Xu Xudong— Chairman of Far East Group and Mr. Jiang Bingkun-- former Chairman of Taiwan's Straits Exchange Foundation delivered their speeches respectively. They expressed that taking this opportunity, both sides would pave the way for further cooperation between SWS and U Ming, as the driving forces, they would make their due efforts for promoting the harmony and prosperity of Shipping Industry and Shipbuilding Industry in both Taiwan and Shanghai. In the speech, Mr. Jiang Binkun reviewed the situation of cross-strait economic exchanges in the past 20 years, and mentioned that the cooperation between SWS and U-ming not only symbolized the peaceful development across Straits, but also reflected SWS’s technical capacity. He delivered his appreciation and respect to all the guests for their contributions towards the peaceful development of two sides.

After Mrs. Chen Meihui named this new constructed vessel as “CAPE GLOBE”, she unveiled this huge vessel with blessings of all attendees.
