On the afternoon of June 6, the Kick-off Ceremony of China’s First National Comprehensive Standardization Demonstration Project for Offshore Engineering Equipment --- Jack-up Drilling Rig was held in the Manufacturing Dept. in SWS. The ceremony was hosted by Mr. Yin Minghan---Director of Industrial Standard Dept. of Standardization Administration of the People’s Republic of China (SAC), who announced the approval for the project construction on the ceremony. The establishment of this demonstration project will impulse the innovation and sustained and coordinated development of China’s offshore engineering equipment industry, and also played a leading role for it.

Director of SAC---Mr. Chen Gang and Deputy Secretary-General of the Shanghai Municipal People’s Government---Mr. Wang Wei attended the ceremony and delivered speeches. Assistant President of CSSC---Mr. Zhou Jianneng delivered a speech on the ceremony. In his speech, it was mentioned that to develop the offshore engineering equipment manufacturing and establish the standardization system of offshore engineering is the important development strategy for not only China’s shipbuilding industry, but also the domestic oil exploration equipment manufacturing,  and the petrochemical equipment manufacturing industry. With the start of the comprehensive standardization project, CSSC will make positive efforts to build Shanghai into an important base for developing and constructing offshore engineering equipments in China, and make greater contributions to China’s offshore oil and gas industry and the development of offshore engineering equipments.

The Chairman of the board, Secretary of CPC Committee of SWS ---Mr. Huang Yongxi mentioned in his speech that since its founding, taking the carrier of establishing a modern shipbuilding mode, SWS has carried out a number of studies, design and construction work for standard vessels, and gradually established the standardization management system in company, which has promoted the realization of institutionalization, normalization and standardization of each management, and accumulated a wealth of experience. As the leading force of China’s shipbuilding industry, SWS has the confidence to lead the way for the comprehensive standardization demonstration project of Jack-up Drilling Rig.

With the witness of over 100 guests, Mr. Chen Gang, Mr. Wang Wei, Mr. Shen Weimin (the Deputy Secretary of Quality Supervision Bureau, Shanghai), Mr. Zhou Jianneng, and Mr. Huang Yongxi pressed the start button together, that marked the National Comprehensive Standardization Demonstration Project for Offshore Engineering Equipment --- Jack-up Drilling Rig officially started.

It is reported that in order to expeditiously establish the standard system for our independent research and development of offshore engineering equipment, and promote the rapid improvement of independent research and design capabilities, the National Comprehensive Standardization Demonstration Project for Offshore Engineering Equipment --- Jack-up Drilling Rig applied by SWS and recommended by Quality Supervision Bureau (Shanghai) was approved by SAC in 2011. The construction period of the entire project will continue until December 2015. The project is jointly implemented by SWS, Technology Research and Economy Development Institute (CSSC), and MARIC (CSSC). The companies which are familiar with the offshore engineering construction in shipbuilding industry also jointly participate in this project. The Quality Supervision Bureau (Shanghai) will provide the guidance and coordination for ensuring the smooth progress of the project according to the schedule.
