On May 9th, 3:00pm, the Living Quauter of the 20000TEU Container Vessel H1413 built for COSCO SHIPPING was installed in No.1 dock of SWS, the LQ broke four new records in SWS’ shipbuilding history by height, tonnage, cable length and equipment pipeline quantity.

Height: The ship’s LQ has 9 floors in all, and it is as high as 65.9 meters from upper deck to the top. The lifting difficulty lay in the total height of the ship, which is more than 7m over the gantry crane lifting limitation, and the top of the ship is nearly as high as the crane alongside. But the project team made a detailed planning after discussion with the Erection Department and the Design Department and decided to optimize the lifting lug so as to lower the height of the suspensory rigging to the largest extent, then jointly lifted the LQ with two gantry cranes which ensured the hoisting of the LQ smoothly.

Tonnage:  The total tonnage of theLQ is 1,390t, and the hoisting of the LQ was divided into two parts as 90A and 90B. In order to ensure a smooth lift, every department tried their best without delay, looked up the related information in advance, overcome multiple difficulties under the unified coordination of the project team, completed the main deck hatch pedestal welding and painting work within three "5.1 labor’s” days, passed ship owners’ first-time inspection, and finished the installation of the equipment and steel outfitting before the lifting of 90A.

Cable Length: The cable used in the LQ is as long as about 130 kilometers which is three times as much as the length used by a 208,000 DWT bulk carrier, and it also created a new record by cable length among all conventional ships built in SWS since its establishment.

Equipment Pipeline Quantity: Because there are many cabins inside the LQ, the pipelines for the central air conditioning system, bridge equipment, air ducts, refrigeratory cabins, sewage water treatment system, hot water supply, firefighting system have been the most in quantity and scale among all merchant ships. In the future, the relevant departments will gradually sort out  them and arrange the installation and commissioning reasonably to make all the pipes and equipment work in good condition.

The smooth completion of theLQ hoisting laid a solid foundation for the launching integrity, realized the connection from bottom to top, made good conditions for the quay commissioning after launching, and also accumulated valuable experience for construction of her sister ships in the future.
