On May.10, the sun shines over SWS and the tender wind blows softly. There are no clouds in the sky but sunlight everywhere. No.2 quay is bathed in sunshine the grand naming ceremony for H1377, which is a 318K DWT VLCC built for China Merchants Energy Shipping Co.(CMES) in SWS, was ushered. Mr. Xie Zhenglin, Director of capital operations of Sinopec Group, Executive Director and President of Sinopec Asset Company, Vice Chairman of Board of CMES; Mrs.Hu Qin, Vice Director of China Merchants Group risk management department;;Mr. Xie Chunlin, President of CMES; Mr. Hu Kai, Vice President of China Shipbuilding Trading Co., Ltd.,; Mr. Sheng Jigang, President of SWS, Mr. Tao Ying, Chief Technical Officer of SWS,; Mr.Zhou Qi, Vice President of SWS, and guests from different areas were invited and attended the ceremony.
The ceremony was chaired by Mr. Zhou Qi, Vice President of SWS,. Mr Sheng Jigang ,President of SWS, delivered a welcome speech. He pointed out that CMES is not only the most influential shipping enterprises in the industry, but also a highly respected partner for SWS. Previously, six VLCCs have been successfully delivered, which witnessed the friendly cooperation and deep friendship over the years. With the naming and delivery of H1377, the cooperation between both parties in the field of VLCC sees a great success. He stressed that SWS will go all out to organize the 400,000 DWT VLOC construction, continue to provide a full range of supports and services on research and development of ship products for China Merchants Group, make more positive efforts for the sustainable development of Chinese shipping and shipbuilding.
In the blessings of all, the sponsor Mr. Xie Zhenglin named the new ship as "NEW MERIT" and then, Mrs.Hu Qin unveiled it.
Mr. Xie Zhenglin said in his speech that the reason why SWS ensured timely delivery of 7 VLCCs was due to its huge R&D capabilities, superb construction level and excellent work attitude, this was not only the great achievements cultivated by cooperation between two giant central enterprises, but also witnessed the profound friendship in cooperation for both parties. In the future, China Merchants Group will continue to join hands with SWS and continue to pursue mutual benefit. He also made a wish that both companies would win endless wealth and business.
It is reported that "NEW MERIT" is the seventh VLCC built for CMES by SWS. It adopted the latest energy saving and environmental protection design, optimized the ship line, added the sediment prevention system and used G-type M/E. Its various performances outweighed other similar products both at home and abroad which made it capable of reducing the fuel consumption largely and saving the operating costs. As of the delivery of "NEW MERIT", SWS has delivered 18 ship products this year, the production and operation works were promoted steadily according to the operational policy of “downsizing scale and getting strong to break the crisis, adhering to the bottom line and seizing the orders, making continuous improvement to win benefit, and breaking the high-end to seek for development” and the management theme of ““restructuring, and stability”.
