On February 28th, accompanied by a clear ringing of the siren, the 318, 000 DWT VLCC “NEW VICTORY” built for China Merchants Energy Shipping Co. Ltd (CMES) was named and delivered successfully at the NO.3 quay in SWS. On the same day, the 186,000 DWT bulk carrier “CAPE GALAXY” built for U-Ming Marine Transport Corp. under Taiwan Far Eastern Group, and the 208,000 DWT bulk carrier “ABOY LAETITIA” built for CSSC Shipping were delivered at SWS and SCH respectively. In the first two months of the New Year, SWS’s delivery momentum has been growing strongly. Since January 6th, SWS has successively delivered four 300 thousand DWT VLCCs, seven 200 thousand DWT bulk carriers and one 113 thousand DWT Aframax oil tanker. It is particularly worth celebrating that the “NEW VICTORY” is the 400th merchant ship since the delivery of the first Vessel in June 22nd, 2003, which makes the construction performance of large ships ascend into the world's leading ranks.

“NEW VICTORY” is the 6th VLCC delivered to CMES. These series of ships adapt the latest VLCC type design, add the sediment prevention system, and effectively reduce the fuel consumption, which can further save operating costs for the owner. Through the successful construction of this type of VLCCs, SWS further improved the competitiveness and brand benefit in the very large crude oil tanker market. In the naming ceremony, Mr. Sheng Jigang, President of SWS, and Mr. Chu Zongsheng, Assitant President of China Merchants group, delivered speeches respectively, they spoke highly of the years of cooperation and friendship, and said it will continue to strengthen the strategic cooperation between domestic central enterprises groups, and make more efforts to the sustainable development of Chinese shipping industry and shipbuilding industry.

The successful delivery of the 400th new vessel highlights the company's good brand advantage, strong market competitiveness and strong comprehensive strength. On intelligent manufacturing, the company focuses on the development of advanced and efficient manufacturing mode, planed and implemented 26 intelligent manufacturing projects such as construction of automatic production line, its automatic manufacturing level has improved significantly compared with the previous year. Meanwhile, centering on the Suezmax oil tankers, ULCC and other new ship type, the company continued to carry out the planning method, has completed 252 new technology and method topics so far, such as the tailshaft installation before semi-vessel floating, and effectively improved the production efficiency.
