On March 31st, SWS signed the construction order for ten 2nd generation 400,000 dwt VLOCs with China Ore Shipping Pte. Ltd, who is a central enterprise under China Cosco Shipping Corporation. This news not only sets a new record for contracting 400,000 dwt in single order, but also makes SWS the king for holding orders in VLOC (14 in total). Therefore, Shanghai is now the construction center of world 2nd generation 400,000 dwt VLOC.
Before this, CSSC had signed “Strategy Cooperation Agreement” with China Cosco, in which both sides stressed to deepen their cooperation on the basis of industrial chain, to explore and develop newly-emerging diversification-related fields and overseas cooperation, to seek for future-oriented development and renovate business cooperative mode.
Under current challenging market competition, SWS brought "SWS Brand" into full play and developed cooperation with marine institutes under CSSC. Based on the order-taking principle of "follow the market, try our best, seize the rhythm, control the risk", SWS also reasonably allocated its three-product portfolios of "benefit-oriented", "cost-average oriented" and "market development oriented". Furthermore, SWS closely caught the policy opportunity of "construct national vessels in China" and won itself a wealth of new orders. What worth mention was SWS pocketed some high-tech, high value-added products successively.
The contract is another accomplishment after the other one for 4 same VLOC with China Merchants Energy Shipping Co., Ltd on March 23rd. SWS scored her second glory by 10 more VLOC after one week and further consolidated its leading role in development, design and construction of world largest energy-saving bulk carriers and ore carriers.
The successful development and undertaking of such world 2nd 400,000 dwt VLOC shall further diversify SWS' product line and greatly enhance its comprehensive strength and market competitiveness.
