China shipbuilding refreshed the records and made a new break through. In the morning of Nov 27th, 6 latest type of container ships, as the world's largest ones to be built in China as of today, ushered in their steel-cutting at the same time in SCH. Succeeding to the prior steel cutting 20000TEU Container Ships early this month, this is regarded as another breakthrough got by CSSC which added glory to Shanghai and warmed up the cold winter. Meanwhile, it also refreshed a record for CSSC to build such a batch of ultra large container ships and made CSSC surpass the formers and took the leading position in ultra large container ship construction area.
Together with Liu Yifan, President of Science and Information Department of China Shipping, and Bao Xianqing, head of supervision division of China Shipping Container Liners, Li Xueqiang,Vice President of China Shipping(HongKong) pressed the button to cut the ships' first plates. Vice President of CSTC, Wu Kai, Wang Qi, President of SWS and Chairman of SCH, Chen Jun, President of SCH, Su Long, Party Committee Secretary and heads from LR, DNV and CCS attended the ceremony.
On Oct. 30th, SWS officially signed the contract to build six 21000TEU container ships with China Shipping (Hong Kong) in Shanghai. The newest largest ultra-large container ships are tailor constructed for China Shipping and shall service in China Shipping Container Liners.
According to the requirements from China Shipping, MARIC developed and designed these ships, updated and optimized the principal dimensions to load more reefer containers. This type of container ship has now world's largest principal dimensions and container loading capacity. Its LOA is 400 meters, molded breadth is 33.5 meters, and its molded depth is 33.5 meters, designed draft is 14.5 meters, scantling draft is 16 meters, maximum speed is 22 knots, full load capacity is 20988 TEU, among which 1000TEU are reefers.
