From Sep.18 to Sep. 19, three experts from China Association for Quality (CAQ) appraised and inspected Material-preparation Operation Area of Manufacturing Dept. in which SWS apply for thestar rating evaluation.
In February 2012, the star rating declaration had been fully activated by CAQ. For the purpose of applying ideas, methods and measures of scientific management into total quality management, to achieve high quality, efficiency, low-energy, balanced, safety and civilized production, as well as to eliminate disqualification, to reduce waste and to Improve economic efficiency, this activity was carried out in national pillar industries and national prioritized advanced manufacturing industries.
Since applying the national star site management early this year, the Material-preparation Operation Area carried out self- assessment responsibly. Through planning, organizing and coordinating properly and effectively for work planning, 5S management, Safety management, equipment maintenance, efficiency promotion, training, site process discipline as well as work group’s culture construction, the site management of Manufacturing Dept. has been transformed from extensive-management to institutionalized, normalized and standardized management. In May, the Material-preparation Operation Area smoothly passed qualification appraised by Shanghai Association for Quality and was recommended to join the star rating evaluation which organized by CAQ.
During two-day on-site appraisal, in line with the requirement of “Evaluation Standard of Star Rating for Site Management “, “Scoring Methods of Star Rating for Site Management”, the CAQ expert team was through on-site inspection, information access, communication and the other way to deeply realized the main feature of site management in working planning, training, equipment management, quality control, safety management, standard operation procedure file and etc. The expert team agreed that there were many highlights in SWS’s site management, such as quality tracing system, visual management, HSE simulation Center, information technology management for overcut and staff performance management. Meanwhile, they also put forward suggestions for efficiency improvement, productive rhythm control, value flow analysis, statistics method and etc.
Following as the first company in China ship industry which awarded “five-star working site” by Shanghai Association for Quality in 2011, SWS was become the first shipyard which was qualified to join the appraisal by CQA in 2012.
