“Shandong New Era”, China's first 210K DWT Newcastle upgraded intelligent bulk carrier built by SWS, was named and delivered in Shanghai on March 3. China Classification Society (CCS) especially awarded the vessel "intelligent ship (intelligent engine room, intelligent energy efficiency) and ship cyber security (S)" additional mark certificates, The vessel has become China’s first large bulk carrier to obtain the abovementioned “S”mark certified by CCS.
With a length of 299.88 meters, a moulded breadth of 50 meters, a moulded depth of 25.20 meters and a navigation speed of 14.2 knots, “Shandong New Era” is the latest tenth-generation Newcastle intelligent bulk carrier of which SWS owns the independent intellectual property, mainly used for iron ore transportation on the route from Australia to China. In addition to the loading of digital intelligent system, the research and development team carried out multi-plan evaluation of linear and energy-saving devices by means of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and combined with ship model test verification inside the pond, so as to effectively reduce the vessel's comprehensive energy consumption, improve the vessel's performance indicators, and meet the requirements of EEDI Phase II based on the principle of not reducing the vessel's speed and increasing its loading capacity. The vessel can reduce nitrogen oxide emission by more than 85% and sulfur oxide emission by more than 90% by using exhaust gas desulfurization system and denitrification system, which meets the requirements of international anti-pollution convention rules and has the notable features of intelligence, economy, green, environmental protection, energy saving and safety.
By building an intelligent remote operation and maintenance platform integrating "one platform + N intelligent applications", SWS has realized the digital system of 30 categories of equipment on the vessel, mainly including intelligent integration, equipment operation and maintenance, energy efficiency management, enhanced vision-assisted navigation, 3D image intelligent assisted berthing, windlass remote one-key anchoring, shore-based remote control, shore-based data analysis services, etc., and has made major breakthroughs in five aspects.
Highlight 1: The value-added mode of data application is proposed for the first time, which mainly includes shipowners, shipyards, equipment dealers and system service providers of marine supporting equipment industry.
It has broken the ecological form of separate administration, promoted the upgrading of equipment and demand, and laid the foundation for the realization of data empowerment, data value-added and the formation of industry coordinated development ecology.
Highlight 2: The enhanced vision-assisted navigation function is loaded on a large bulk carrier for the first time.
Based on the identification of ships in the screen, the navigation perception module integrates data from sensors such as shipboard radar, automatic identification system, global positioning system, wind speed and anemometer, electronic chart, closed-circuit television (CCTV), etc., and uses the new technology of "seamless" integration of real world and virtual world to add positioning in 3D scale space. Virtual objects are added to the 3D scale space to display the information of the target ship in the form of augmented reality (AR). Based on the navigation status and channel environment of the own ship and the target ship, we can calculate the possible collision risk and send early warning through artificial intelligence (AI) technology, which improves the safety performance of ship navigation.
Highlight 3: The intelligent 3D image assisted berthing function is loaded on a large bulk carrier for the first time.
The images captured by the camera in the berthing perception module are corrected for distortion and video splicing, and the real-time 3D scene around the ship is reconstructed by visual reconstruction technology. It can perform visual display of any angle of view, display of berthing and departing speed, voice prompt warning, etc., and perfectly realize the real-time sharing of the vessel and the shore base.
Highlight 4: Remote control of windlass is realized on a large bulk carrier for the first time, with the functions of one-button anchor standby, one-button anchoring and one-button anchor heaving-up.
On the basis of the manual control function of traditional anchor and chain stopper, the intelligent windlass adds an independent hydraulic control system. The operator can press the corresponding button according to the command, and the windlass executes the whole process of anchor standby, anchoring and heaving-up fully automatically, which improves the efficiency and accuracy of windlass control.
Highlight 5: The ship-shore interaction in three dimensions of remote monitoring, remote operation and remote control is realized for the first time.
On the basis of intelligent product upgrade, SWS has built shore-based remote services covering the whole industry, created a digital service system with operation and maintenance as the core, realized regular services with pre-sales service and after-sales service as the main features, technical services with design service, operation and maintenance service and supply chain service as the main features, and innovative services with consulting and optimization service and joint innovation service. The establishment of ship-shore integrated service and guarantee system has enhanced the global service capability of domestic ship supporting enterprises and strengthened the core competitiveness of Chinese intelligent ship manufacturing.
