The 210k DWT bulk carrier “Peng May” delivered to FG

On May 31, SWS successfully named M/V Peng May, a 210k dwt Newcastle bulk carrier, built for Foremost Group. This is the 9th of the 10 bulk carriers built by SWS for Foremost Group and the 23rd ship named and delivered to Foremost Group over the years.

The naming ceremony is held via live streaming too. Dr. James Chao, also Honorary Chairman of Foremost Group, Chairman Angela Chao, sponsor Sophia Teran and her husband Larry Johnson, president of Koch Shipping, attended the virtual naming ceremony online.

Chairman Wang Qi and vice president Zhang Wei of SWS, president Pan Yizhou and vice president Cao Guangjun of Shanghai Branch of Foremost Group, Eric Kleess, Senior Vice President of Eastern Hemisphere Operations of ABS, assistant president Hu Min of Shanghai Branch of Sinosure, Captain Wang Jiahai of M/V Peng May, and vice president Wu Aijun of CSTC attended the naming ceremony at site. Ms. Sophia Teran addressed the naming words online and announced the unveiling of the ship’s name. Zhang Song, assistant president of SWS, presided over the ceremony.

"Peng May" is a new generation of green and environment-friendly Newcastle bulk carrier that is independently designed and built by SWS, and also a popular ship type in the world large bulk carrier market. The ship, with a total length of 292m, a width of 45m and a depth of 24.9m, is registered into ABS, and meets the latest maritime codes such as IMO Tier III and HCSR as well as various environmental protection requirements. Its comprehensive performance has reached world-class level.

Laura Jiang, Secretary of the Board of Directors of SWS, and principals of relevant departments, representatives of Shanghai Branch of Foremost Group, ABS, CSTC, Shanghai Branch of Sinosure, etc. jointly witnessed the naming of the ship.
