The Keel Laying of prototype SBM Fast4ward FPSO and the contract signing ceremony for second one were held on Nov. 21st at SWS. Mr. Lei Fanpei, the Chairman of board of CSSC, attended the ceremony and met with Mr. Bruno Chabas, the CEO of SBM Group.Mr. Nan Daqing, Vice President of CSSC, also participated in the above activities.
In the afternoon, the Keel Laying ceremony of the prototype product of SBM Fast4ward FPSO was held at SWS, which marking a key step forward in the versatility of the FPSO from concept to actual construction, and laying a solid foundation for completion and delivery.
The contract that came into effect on the same day was the second FPSO after the first one signing between SBM Offshore and SWS on July 1, 2017, and received highly attention by a various of international renowned oil companies, and will further deepen the long-term cooperation between both parties.
The Fast4ward FPSO is the original "Genetic Hull" design concept of SBM Group. The basic solution is an FPSO with a storage capacity of 2 million barrels of crude oil. With a total length of 333 meters, a width of 60 meters, a depth of 33 meters and a displacement of 460K deadweight, the product is the latest FPSO with the largest tonnage and maximum oil storage capacity in the world. The product can meet a wide range of environmental sea conditions such as the Gulf of Mexico, West Africa and Brazil. It can not only apply to oil and gas exploring operations in various sea areas around the world, but also can significantly reduce the operating costs of the end users. The second FPSO signed this time will follow the design of the prototype FPSO, for which the steel cutting is scheduled to be held in January 2019. Subsequently, SWS will continue to provide EPC services.
The SBM Group is a world first class FPSO operator and plays a significant leading role in the FPSO construction world. Since the steel cutting of the first FPSO began in March of 2018, it has been promoted forward strictly in accordance with the process specifications and requirements of milestones, thus, the keel laying has been eventually carried out today, and entered the final assembly stage. The contract signing of the second FPSO fully demonstrates the SBM Group's highly trust in SWS, and fully affirms the construction situation of the first FPSO.
As a subsidiary of CSSC and a leading domestic shipbuilding enterprise, SWS successfully delivered the 3,000-meter deepwater semi-submersible drilling rig “Hai Yang Shi You 981” of the National 863 Major Project in 2011, filled a number of blank in China's deepwater equipment field. In addition, the company has successfully delivered three FPSOs, namely “Hai Yang Shi You 111”, “Hai Yang Shi You 113” and “Hai Yang Shi You 117”, and cooperated with numbers of offshore shipowners from China, Norway and the United States etc., designed and built three types of jack-up drilling platforms such as JU2000E, CJ46 and CJ50.The successful keel laying of the prototype product of the SBM Fast4ward FPSO series project and the successful come into effect of the second contract of FPSO indicate that SWS has been enabled to construct and deliver in the field of offshore drilling and production equipment in row, while a new pattern of the strategy of" Merchant Vessel, Offshore Product, and Cruise Ship developing together" has been formed.
