On July 27th, CMA CGM Vasco Dagama, the 18000 TEU container ship, which is researched, designed by MARIC and built by SWS, was successfully named and delivered to the Charter, France CGM Shipping Group on the No.2 dock in SWS. The successful delivery of the ship, not only means that China has the power to design and build the super large container ship, as a milestone to witness SWS’ transformation towards intelligent and green development, but also marks the successful landing of the integration of CSSC's shipbuilding industry developmental strategy and business model innovation. In the naming ceremony, Mr. Huang Yongxi, who’s the chairman of SWS, expressed the thanks to the France CGM Shipping supervision group and BV classification and society for their support, cooperation and careful guidance. He also thanked the engineering and technical teams in SWS for their wisdom and efforts. Furthermore, he pointed out that company would continue to uphold the developmental principle of “Leading in the world and First in China," taking a consistent role in pushing forward the management innovation and technological progress, to ensure the delivery of high-quality products by schedule. Vice President of CSSC, Mr. Nan Daqing Nan, stated that as the world’s largest shipbuilding group company, CSSC is fully complying with new pattern and changes in the shipping and shipbuilding industry, positively responding to the owner’s expectation of improving the capacity of structure, reducing cost, enhancing the competitiveness in current market, and constantly improving the ability of design and building ability. CSSC launched a series of energy-saving, green vessel products to global market, and those products are widely recognized by the ship owner. The delivery of CMA CGM Vasco Dagama is the leader of these ships. The executive Vice President of France CGM Shipping Group Ludwik Gerard, the Assistant President of CSSC Shipping Lin Feng, Secretary of the Party of MARIC Lu Lin attended the naming ceremony. The ceremony was hosted by the President of SWS, Mr. Wang Qi. The Vice President of Transport Financing department of China Import and Export Bank, Ms Liu Ya named and unveiled the new vessel. The leaders from Shanghai Economic and Information Cooperation Committee , the Public Security Bureau of Shanghai Free Trade Zone, the government of Gaodong town , French Bureau VERITAS, were invited to the ceremony, and witnessed signing of documents related to the delivery of the vessel. The successful delivery CMA CGM Vasco Dagama breaks South Korean’s monopoly of ultra large container ship. It accumulated successful experience to undertake and the construction of ultra large container ship for China’s shipbuilding industry. It is reported that CMA CGM shipping group and CSSC Shipping will together award USD 150,000 to SWS for delivering the vessel two months sooner thanbefore the contract ed period delivery date with high quality.
