On April 8th, Director of Equipment Industry Division of the Ministry of Industry and Information, Li Dong and other 17 people investigated at SWS with the major purpose of understanding the current development of intelligent manufacturing, its achievements and the next step of its plan. Accompanied by SWS President Wang Qi, the investigation team watched safety introduction video at the multi-function hall on the 1st floor of the New Building. The team then visited Manufacturing Dept, Assembly Dept, the product lines in Piping Fabrication Dept, HSE Simulation Hall and the 18000 TEU container ship which is now under construction. During the visit, the operating personnel demonstrated the lean process of task assigning which applies technology of the Internet of things. After the visit, Vice President Chen Gang made a report on the practical situation of intelligent shipbuilding at SWS and its developmental plan. Director Li Dong interpreted "The notice of 2015 intelligent shipbuilding pilot project recommendation of the State". The "notice" requires that the pilot projects should be legal person qualified, with the healthy condition of operation and finance, project technology level should be national or global leading, applicable equipment and system of the pilot project should be independent safety controlled; meanwhile, project needs to continue improving intelligent manufacturing and have achieved tangible results in reducing the operation cost, shortening R & D cycle, improving production efficiency, reducing the unqualified rate, and improving energy utilization.
