On December 4th, SWS, a subsidiary of CSSC, signed the EPC contract for SBM’s FAST4WARD MPF#3 with SBM OFFSHORE in Shanghai. Mr. Lei Fanpei, Chairman of CSSC, attended the ceremony and held talks with Mr. Bruno Chabas, CEO of SBM. Both parties conducted an in-depth discussion and reached a broad consensus on further strengthening communication and expanding project cooperation. Mr. Sun Wei, Vice President of CSSC, Mr. Bernard Van Leggelo, Executive Director of SBM, and Mr. Liu Zhengguo, Assistant President of CSSC, participated in the above activities.

Mr. Chen Gang, President of SWS, expressed his heartfelt thanks to the leaders and guests present. He said that under the guidance of CSSC’s high-quality development strategy, SWS would always adhere to the development of offshore engineering, optimize the design and construction capabilities of offshore equipment, and construct high-quality offshore products.

Lei commented SBM’s important position and influence in the field of global offshore oil and gas industry as the world's largest FPSO operator and also a respectable and excellent partner to CSSC and SWS. The newly combined CSSC group would adhere to providing customers with first-class quality, service, and products in accordance with the high-quality development requirements, and strive to build a world-class shipbuilding group with international competitiveness. Since the first project launched in July 2017, the two parties had always been in close communication and sincere cooperation, and the safe and efficient progress had been widely recognized. He hoped that the two sides will continue to deepen communication and work together for a win-win situation.

Bruno Chabas added that the smooth progress had accumulated rich design and production experience for subsequent projects with efforts like learning from each other, growing together, and collaborating closely since the first contract signed. It was expected that the two parties would work together to make every effort to advance the progress of serial FPSO projects, continue to improve safety and quality management levels, optimize the production preparation for subsequent projects, and create excellent FPSO projects for laying a good foundation to conduct cooperation in a wider range of fields.

The serial FAST4WARD FPSO hull projects belong to SBM’s original “Generic” hull design concept. Its basic solution is a FPSO with a storage capacity of 2.3 million barrels of crude oil, which is the world’s largest tonnage and oil storage capacity till now. This type of FPSO meets with a wide range of sea conditions in West Africa and South America, and is suitable for oil and gas development operations in various sea areas around the world.

Since the steel cutting in March 2018, the construction of the first hull project had been advanced in strict accordance with technical specifications and milestone requirements. It had entered the final commissioning stage and was scheduled to arrive in Singapore in the first quarter of next year. By then, the generic plan of the world's original ship type will be transformed from a concept into a real FPSO and become the star FPSO type in the world's offshore equipment market. This signing not only further deepened the long-term cooperation between the two sides and attracted great attention from many internationally renowned oil companies, but also marked that SWS had increasingly become a worldwide FPSO construction center.

Mr. Yu Fengping and Mr. Wang Yongliang, directors of the Marine and Offshore Dept. of CSSC, Mr. Li Hongtao, Chairman of CSTC, Mr. Zhao Hongwu, Vice President of MARIC, Mr. Yuan Feipeng, Deputy Party Committee Secretary of SWS, and Mr. Wang Jingjun, Vice President of SWS participated in the event. The ceremony was presided over by Mr. Zhang Qipeng, Assistant President of SWS.
