The Keel Laying ceremony of the 400 feet JU2000E jack-up drilling rig built by SWS for China Petroleum Offshore Engineering Co., Ltd. (CPOE) was held in the morning of November 8.
At 10 am, with one order, the key component of the jack up rig - the flying saucer-shaped spud can, which is with the diameter of 18 meters and weighing up to 350 tons, was steadily hanging to the specified location by the gantry crane. Within one month, it is the second jack-up drilling rig of which the construction has step into the assembly stage in the drydock, and it created the record of Shanghai Shipbuilding Industry that there are two drilling rigs constructing side by side in the drydock, which represented that Shanghai Offshore Engineering Equipment Manufacture has entered into a e new era of series construction.
This 400 feet JU2000E jack-up drilling platform is owned by CPOE which is the subordinate of China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC). It is another large investment in offshore engineering equipment of CPOE following the 350 feet L780 jack-up drilling platform bidden for construction in 2006.
On March 8 of this year, Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. signed EPC Contract of this 400 feet JU2000E jack-up drilling rig with COPE in Beijing. On May 28, the steel cutting ceremony was held in SLO which is the offshore base of SWS located in Lingang Heavy Equipment Industry Area. According to the project schedule, this jack up rig will be completed and delivered in 2014.
The 400 feet JU2000E jack-up rig is another iconic offshore product with high-tech and high value-added, following the successful construction of the world's sixth-generation deepwater semi-submersible drilling unit "HAIYANG SHIYOU 981". The rig is triangular, has three triangular truss pile leg, leg length is 166.98 meters, equivalent to 55 stories high; each pile legs supported by the spud can in the lower end. The platform is
